On Sunday afternoon, we arrived in New Orleans. My anticipation of New Orleans was clouded by my only previous interaction, whereupon I left within the hour. You have probably felt that super-sensitivity to the location of one's wallet and valuables are by the demeanor of the crowd peering from the edges of loud raunchy openings in the continuous walls of bars, and strip-joints that lined the French Quarter. New Orleans this time was not squeaky clean, but peaceful, quaint, and inviting. There were friendly smiles from shop owners, a few loud bars, and numerous enterprises of artisan ware. Walking down Bourbon Street provided a number of good photos and a few shopping opportunities for the upcoming Mother's Day..
After walking for most of 4 hours, we found an outdoor cafe and ordered frozen Margaritas. The temperature was hovering at 90, the humidity at it's normal 95%, so we needed a cooling. A jazz band was playing, Alligator Po-boys were on the menu, so lunch was had.
Our mode of transportation around the city was the trolley. The cars are quite old; I remember the similar ones in Milwaukee in the 1950's.
We intend on returning to NOLA soon. A grand time was had.
